Across the Blue
by Carrie Turansky

Across the Blue by Carrie TuranskyIsabella Grayson, the eldest daughter of a wealthy, English newspaper magnate, longs to become a journalist, but her parents don’t approve. They want her to marry well and help them gain a higher standing in society. After she writes an anonymous letter to the editor that impresses her father, her parents reluctantly agree she can write a series of articles about aviation and the race to fly across the English Channel, but only if she promises to accept a marriage proposal within the year.

When James Drake, an aspiring aviator, crashes his flying machine at the Grayson’s new estate, Bella is intrigued. James is determined to be the first to fly across the Channel and win the prize Mr. Grayson’s newspaper is offering. He hopes it will help him secure a government contract to build airplanes and redeem a terrible family secret. James wants to win Bella’s heart, but his background and lack of social standing make it unlikely her parents would approve.

If he fails to achieve his dream, how will he win the love and respect he is seeking? Will Bella’s faith and support help him find the strength and courage he needs when unexpected events turn their world upside down?

I felt the same way until I experienced a long-distance trip on the rails, now I have a very healthy respect for those who had no choice but to endure it! 😉

Hello, some good choices but I think I like Newton and Polly cover the best of all! The Road to Paradise is also rather unique and attention garnering.

Fun giveaway! It will be great to see who wins Across the Blue!

I’d say Jody Hedlund’s With You Always and it was such a good book. I would enjoy train travel the best. Thank you for the giveaway opportunity.

Don’t make me choose! I can’t! But I enjoy flying places. It’s fun. But we have done a lot of driving around the country and there’s nothing like it seeing the world the Lord has created!

We love to drive but we’ve never flown. Guess we’re just not in a hurry 😉

I have read Across the Blue and can recommend it! Carrie did a great job making the early days of aviation understandable and accessible. Plus, that cover is gorgeous.

Thanks for sharing! I’m looking forward to posting my review next week.

I have always loved the cover of Out of the Ordinary. In books, my favorite method of transportation is horseback or carriage.

What a creative idea for a post! I love this idea.

I am really captivated by With You Always by Jody Hedlund. It’s definitely on my TBR list, and I cannot wait to finally get to it. Transportation by train is not my favorite because it is so slow and I get antsy, but the cover totally draws me in. It is really pretty,

Thank you! Oh yes, that’s a good one! I was surprised by how rough and bumpy our train ride was (for 2+ days one-way) 🙄

With You Always is my favorite cover here. It just begs to be read! I think stories with ships are my fav!

I’m drawn to the covers of “Finding Margo” by Jen Turano and “The Road to Paradise” by Karen by Barnett for the colors and earlier modes or different types of transportation which to me are intriguing. I absolutely love the cover of “Across the Blue” by Carrie Turansky not only because of the coloring but the fashion statement of the hat and the airplane. Since I’ve never flown in an airplane, I’m always excited to have them in stories. Love all sorts of transportation in my stories because I love to read about all time frames. It’s how the author writes about it that makes it interesting.

I agree that “unfamiliar” often makes certain story elements more appealing!

I absolutely love the wooden boat from Out of the Ordinary and the schooner from Finders Keepers! I love all of the covers for different reasons, though. They’re all very different but eye-catching!

I love the whimsical cover of Karen’s book! I’ve always loved to travel by car & discover new places that way. And one day, I want to travel somewhere by train since I’ve never been on one 🙂

Just for the record, I think all these covers are great! Thanks for the giveaway chance to win Across the Blue by Carrie.

Me too! (take a small trip by train before you decide to ride the rails across the country, just saying)

Out of the Ordinary is my fav cover. I love reading about horses and carriages in books.

Hi! For some reason I am intrigued by the cover of Finding Margo. I guess it is the blending of the modern or English and the Amish. The woman in the ripped jeans and the beautiful farm and buggy. I would also say that I like to read about buggies as transportation in stories. I must have missed this review somehow. Now I want to read the book.

My favorite cover is Across the Blue. I just think the cover is so beautiful…just stunning! I think my favorite mode of transportation in stories is horse and buggy. Thanks for the opportunity of this giveaway, Beth!

Hi! How can I pick a favorite? I liked many of those covers, but really thought The Road to Paradise had a new style of cover that intrigued me with it’s vintage feal.

With You Always by Jody Hedlund is a beautiful cover. I haven’t read it yet, but it’s on my wish list.
I would love to take a train trip or cruise. I’m happy with any kind of travel, though!

If we were keeping score, which we’re not… I think With You Always would be winning! 😀

Hi! My favorite cover is The Road to Paradise. And I have to say that my favorite mode of transportation in stories (being a horse lover) is on horseback.

Hi there! I like Across the Blue because it’s so serene and peaceful. Now I have never flown and that’s not my idea of a transportation, I had rather be on the train. Thanks for the giveaway ‘

Hi! I love Newton & Polly’s cover, but I don’t like being on boats at all. My favorite mode of travel is by car, always will be.
