First Line Friday

Last weekend I watched Mom’s Night Out (for maybe the eighth time) with my mom (her first time). It’s the first movie I’ve ever pre-ordered and I love it! The main character, Alison is a mommy-blogger and there are so many times I see myself in that character. So I’m trying not to get “stress paralyzed” here and acknowledging that “I am a MESS! But, I am a beautiful mess!” Please, you must see this movie if you haven’t already.

Moving on, let’s have some First Line Friday FUN!!!

Let’s shake things up today by posting the first TWO lines of Chapter TWO for July 22!

Love, Lace, and Minor Alterations by V. Joy Palmer

“Miles walked as fast as a man of his size could walk without looking like he was running away. From a girl no less.”

So, open the book nearest to you and post the first

  3. This is from Jan Thompson’s “Love You Always”, her sixth novel in the Savannah Sweethearts series. I love her writing 🙂

“Do you remember this spot?” Camden asked as they stopped at the edge of the riverfront, where a low concrete wall separated them from the Savannah River. Around them, the warm evening breeze from the Savannah River washed into the night.

  5. “Miles of cotton fields and sprawling ranches had given Dodd Cunningham an uneasy feeling that afternoon, even before he passed the Welcome to Trapp, Texas! Home of the Panthers! road sign, but he figured small-town life would grow on him. The sense of security his mother felt being near her old friends, the Mendozas, made up for the petty discomforts nagging him.” – Jaded by Varina Denman.

  6. From His Timeless Treasure by Kristen Ethridge: “Lookout Point was situated at the tip of a small strip of land that jutted out of the barrier island, curving around like the tentacle of an octopus. No one lived out here-except Miles Wharton, an eccentric man in his 80’s that Reid had surprisingly gotten to know during the coverage of Hurricane Igor.”

    1. LOL! Maybe we should make it a week long event and call it “First Line Frenzy” 😉 I’ve read so many great reviews for that book!
