about the book

Berry on Top by Valerie ComerLiz Nemesek’s first visit home in forever is tough enough before Mason Waterman shows up. Despite her best efforts, she’s never forgotten — or forgiven — him for the hurt he once caused.

Former bad boy Mason Waterman has returned to northern Idaho to raise his five-year-old twins. The kids are determined to find a new mommy, but Liz is the last person they should latch onto… and the last person he should find himself falling for. Again.

If Mason has really changed, can Liz re-open her heart to him… and to the God who could have prevented her decade of heartache?

Berry on Top is the sixth novel in the Farm Fresh Romance series. This Christian romance series follows the adventures, romantic and otherwise, of a group of young women who purchase an old farm together in northern Idaho to grow their own organic food and prove to those around them that they can make a difference. These farm romance novels are stories of farm life with a focus on local food. The Farm Fresh Romance series doesn’t pad the issues nor preach about them, but allows the characters the freedom to grapple with environmentalism and sustainability as believers.

my thoughts

Liz is carrying the heavy burden of anger, shame, and unforgiveness. She is one stubborn gal and I wanted to give her a big ol’ hug or maybe shake some sense into her. People hold onto hurt too long and that’s when it gets a hold on us, bitterness. Liz is so wrapped up in running away from her pain that she can’t see the answer sitting right in front of her.

Mason’s 5-year-old twins, a sweet and often meek little girl and a boisterous, rowdy boy, keep him on his toes. Mason is no saint but his drastic lifestyle change is evidence of his new heart. There’s just one person he hasn’t had an opportunity to apologize to and she’s not making it easy. Learn more about Mason and read an excerpt from Berry on Top on Inspy Romance.

I love the Farm Fresh Romance series. Find out how it all began in Raspberries and Vinegar but don’t worry if you haven’t read them all, each book is an entertaining stand-alone! Berry on Top has genuine characters and the message is full of hope, forgiveness, and meaningful community. I appreciated Valerie’s attention to the issues of homelessness, adoption, and salvation. Berry on Top is entertaining and inspiring!

I purchased this book. The opinions expressed are my own.
