About the Book

True to You by Becky WadeAfter a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.

Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he’s diagnosed with an inherited condition, he’s forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.

The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John’s already dating someone and Nora’s not sure she’s ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship.

Finding the answers they’re seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.

My Thoughts

Wow. Just. Fabulous and Wonderful and oh. my. heartstrings! I love love love LOVE this story! I am hugging this book that gave me chills and made me cry, laugh, chuckle, giggle, and declare, “I LOVE THIS BOOK!” (no joke, literally out loud with gusto, repeatedly).

Becky Wade is a rock-star and I adore her. That is all. #swoof #micdrop 😍

There is more to this review than my fangirl mush fest… promise!

Nora Bradford is bookish!!! Y’all know I adore bookish characters but Nora is serious nerdgirl material (I want to be her)! Her librarian prowess combined with her love of history makes her a capable and successful genealogist. Nora is without a doubt a kindred spirit plus she has a book collection that I’d love to browse through!

John Lawson is a rugged, modern-day warrior. He’s a quiet and reserved man of integrity and chivalry. John is a keeper!!! He has a captivating practice of savoring experiences, especially ones involving his lovely librarian friend. We all admire John but at the end of the day, he’s just as vulnerable to heartbreak as the rest of us.

Refer to the first paragraph… This book will be on my year-end favorites list, I’m calling it right now and it shall be so. The supporting cast of tight-knit family members and friends has me all kinds of giddy and squealing excited for the rest of the series!!!

I requested the opportunity to read this book through LitFuse, the author, and the publisher. The opinions expressed are my own.

I’m looking forward to this book! — I haven’t dug very far into my family’s genealogy but plan to. My grandfather immigrated from Italy in 1916 and retired as a barber in Chicago. He owned his own shop on the first floor of a building downtown. His clients were businessmen, lawyers, etc…his version of the American dream. I would love to know more of the family history from Italy.

Karen, if you haven’t checked out FamilySearch.org, you really should. It’s a free genealogical site, and they’ve made it super-easy to search records and attach sources to your family line. They are constantly micro-filming and indexing new record sources and making them available for use. Let me know if you’d like more info on it.

This book is definitely at the top of my wish list.

I am an avid genealogist. My mother’s parents were both from Switzerland, my father’s paternal grandparents were from Sweden, and his maternal grandparents were a Danish, English, German mixture. We have several lines that go back to the 1600s, and one of the English lines goes back to European royalty.
